I think it's important to acknowledge that Caste remains even AFTER people convert 'out' of Hinduism. Indian Muslims follow the Ashraf Caste system, Christians are still Dalits, and Sikhism is led mainly by Jatts. It's an Indian problem, not an entirely Hindu one, from what I've observed.
