I think this line of thought is incomplete without bringing in the Buddhist notion of Dharmakaya being the origin of all illusory “separate” streams of consciousness (aka “selves”). How similar is that to Brahman? How similar is the Hindu atman to the Buddhist Alayavijnana (at least for the Yogacharins?) Probably the same, for the yogis of the past (as opposed to the sectarian scholars)
