It seems very strange to see "Aryan" used so many times as if it’s such a central or important part of India’s history. Arya means "noble" in the Buddha’s teaching as well as in the writings of the Vedic Rishis, who belonged to all strata of society. No racial connotation to it in the indigenous texts of India. Is there archaeological, genetic, linguistic, civilizational, literary, or cultural proof that a people specifically named aryans existed? Nope. It was invented by colonizers who were uncomfortable with the fact that ancient india may have been as advanced or more, as Greece and Rome. They wanted to take credit and posited this theory that ancient white people invented India’s culture, partly to justify and make themselves feel better about the horrors of colonization. This Aryan theory ballooned almost immediately into the horrible disgusting ideology of Nazism. If we want to ensure today’s Neo-Nazis have absolutely ZERO ideological grounds to exist, perhaps we should look at this Aryan Invasion idea as a theory (with zero archaeological, genetic and literary evidence) rather than as proven historic fact. It’s a tragedy that India hasn’t bothered to decolonize her own history books, for the sake of reducing Nazist racism across the world.
