Perhaps it’s simply due to where I’m from! As well as a suspicion that such a path won’t actually work, because factory-style enlightenment with one teacher and hundreds of students is too impersonal to enact deeper transformation… I’ve been told I have a romanticized and traditionalized view of this but in my opinion, most Rinpoches shouldn’t even be calling themselves Gurus!
It’s made worse due to the Tulku system where more energy is spent on celebrity teachers than a lineage of transmission that spreads wider and wider.
