"Sticky" is such a great metaphor. There's this story from a sutra where a 'Night Goddess' (perhaps the Kalaratri of Hinduism) has a discourse with the Buddha and his followers, and drops a whole shower of flowers on everyone. They stick to the monks still ensnared in grasping to conceptualizations, but fall off the Bodhisattvas gracefully. An image hard to forget!
