The purpose of the outer Guru is to awaken the inner Guru. And besides, as with stories like that of Asanga, the enlightened beings are there whenever we call upon them. I think there’s great merit in trying to tune in to this presence, especially if embodied humans that carry the pure realizations are hard to come by.
