There are differing opinions on the end of Kali Yuga. Sri Yukteswar and the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda generally believe along with modern mystics such as Sadhguru that we are in Dwapara Yuga's beginning (hence all the centredness on energy, rather than warfare), but orthodox astrologers generally take the stance that there are still hundreds of thousands of years left of a much bigger age of Kali that we are nested within.

I think Maitreya's incarnation is specifically related to the end of the Buddha Dharma though, and I do not think that he is "technically speaking" the same as Kalki, the Vishnu avatar said to arrive at the end of Kali. Though the future is constantly changing, so the best we can do is make the most of what's in front of us, because it's never certain what will happen...
