This is fascinating. Despite the tendency in the hypersecularist scientist materialist West to dismiss such things as loony barbarism, I think it's very helpful to read things like this. The Buddha's past lives are read all the time and carry moral lessons, and it's just sooooo interesting to see how karma plays out with one mindstream manifestation to another. Kind of scary in a healthy way though, because it always reminds me that this wheel that's spinning is just a causal one, nothing special about ~being~ especially during one time or another, but rather an opportunity to develop virtue/merit/wisdom.
